A GONDOLA lies stranded in a Venice canal after waters levels dipped drastically – just two months after severe flooding.

Boats were practically beached yesterday as canals appeared close to running dry, making getting around the city a challenge.

Tides in the city mean water levels can vary by around half a metre (1.6ft), or sometimes even more.
