Piers Morgan confirmed he could be leaving Good Morning Britain in January ahead of the show’s time extension.

The morning show anchor presents the show Mondays to Wednesdays, but previously confessed that his contract runs out on New Years’ Eve. On today’s episode, Piers was put on the spot as he was put up on a Twitter poll with Susanna Reid about who might be the better Prime Minister.

Initially smug that he was winning, Susanna was quick to point out that the social team had actually voted for her. ‘They voted for the one they think might still be here in January,’ he then declared, brushing off the claim. ‘They always think long term on this show. Always looking after each other.’ ‘[They want] Someone who’s a stayer! Someone who’s got stamina! Someone who’s not going to leave at the drop of a hat!’ Susanna proudly declared.

Piers’s future on the show comes as petitions were formed to get him out of the show over his outspoken views on gender fluidity, often slamming the ideas of the series. Susanna has already been courting potential replacements on-air, joking Bill Turnbull could take over Piers’s spot after leaving BBC Breakfast.

Good Morning Britain is due to get an extended time slot in the new year, adding half an hour to fill in the gap in an overhaul of the ITV morning schedule.
