THIS was the shocking moment a furious Popeye’s customer threw a huge barrel of tea at a worker – because he couldn’t get a chicken sandwich.
In the footage – shot at an unidentified outlet – the male customer is seen hurling the container over the counter at the woman while shouting:”B****!”
The employee then picks up the barrel and throws it back at the man as his female companion also gets involved, chucking food at staff.
After a few seconds of shouting and swearing, the two customers casually walk out of the restaurant.
It’s not known when or where the episode happened, but the video has been shared over 900 times on Twitter.
The clip follows a string of disturbing incidents at the fast food chain’s outlets across America.
Tensions have boiled over at multiple restaurants as Popeye’s restocked its hugely popular chicken sandwich after it sold out for two months.
On Monday, a customer was stabbed to death during a row while queuing for the sandwich.
The $3.99 (£3.00) meal, which comes in classic and spicy, debuted for the first time in August and proved such a hit it led to long lines and fist fights.
The sandwich – which comes in classic and spicy formats – sold out at its 2,400 US outlets in just two weeks.
The fast-food joint announced the crispy chicken was back on the menu on Sunday tweeting: “This is not a drill… We’re fully stocked.”
However tensions boiled over as customers traded blows to get their hands on the fried chicken snack.
One clip captioned ‘welcome to Ellenton Popeyes’ showed the extraordinary moment a customer waiting to make their order walked up to a man at the service window and tapped impatiently on his window.
STABBED TO DEATH
The driver furiously got out his vehicle and swung at the man, before pushing him to the ground.
In another store, in Harlem in New York, one man screamed at staff because he felt they were taking too long for his order of ten sandwiches.
Meanwhile one clip from Edgewood in Maryland showed an ugly altercation between several impatient customers inside a store.
And stressed staff even turned on one another at a store in Tallahassee in Florida.
Popeyes said demand for the sandwich had been “truly extraordinary and unprecedented”.
A spokesman said: “We plan to offer it to our guests for a long time.
“We are confident that we’ll be able to meet the demand.”
Popeyes’ fried chicken sandwich launched in August and became an instant hit with consumers.

In September it was revealed a man was suing the food chain after he spent “countless time driving” in search of their chicken sandwich without success in Tennessee.
